The FIFA female health project: Delivering evidence-based strategies to support health and performance in Women`s football
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is committed to optimising the health, well-being and performance of every female footballer, while advancing understanding of the women`s game at all levels. For those working alongside female players, whether as physicians, sport scientists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, coaches or other specialised roles, there remains a continual need for high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific evidence translated into practical guidance. Through initiatives such as the Women`s National Team Physical Preparation Programme and the Female Health Project, FIFA is embedding this evidence into tailored education, practical application and capacity-building support for Member Associations worldwide. These projects connect research to real-world performance environments, ensuring that knowledge is not only generated but also implemented effectively across diverse contexts. Across FIFA Women`s World Cup cycles, FIFA has collaborated with leading experts to generate, curate and apply scientific content that underpins this mission.
